After his training (chemistry at ENS, PhD with J.-M. Lehn, Collège de France, Paris, Post-doc with H. Ringsdorf, Mainz, Germany), he became Professor at Sorbonne University in 2001. In the PASTEUR laboratory at ENS, he is active at the triple interface between Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with theoretical, instrumental, and experimental expertise applied to imaging of complex media such as living matter and designing chemical systems fairly comparable to living microorganisms. Co-chairing the Editorial Board of ChemSystemsChem, he has been Director of Chemistry Department at ENS (2006-2014) and chair of its PASTEUR laboratory (2010-2018).
