Lauren Kamili is a doctoral student in social anthropology and ethnology at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris (School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) and has a master’s degree in environmental policy from Sciences Po Paris (Paris Institute of Political Studies). Her doctoral dissertation, which is funded by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency, focuses on practices and representations of biomimicry in France. She focuses in particular on the ethnography of a laboratory for bio-inspired chemistry and ecology (ChimEco, UMR 5021), which develops protocols for the decontamination of former mining sites. Seeking to develop an interdisciplinary research in collaboration with chemists and ecologists, she is also investigating the forms of life in these polluted areas, near the former mine of Salsigne in the French department of Aude, and in Saint-Laurent-Le-Minier in the Gard.
